JONESBORO, Ark. (11/12/08) ? Arkansas State head coach Brian Boyer
announced Wednesday that Memphis Central standout Jasmine Taylor has signed a National
Letter of Intent to continue her basketball career with the Red Wolves.
Taylor, a 5'10” guard, averaged 14 points and six rebounds last
season, helping Memphis Central advance to the regional semifinals. An outstanding outside shooter, Taylor scored
30 or more points in three games last season.
Taylor was named all-district and all-region following the 2007-08
season and was named to the Memphis
Commercial Appeal/Pepsi Best of Preps team following last season.
“With the graduation of Caroline Starr and Brittney Hiles after
this season, it was important that we get a really solid guard that can come in
and play right away,” said ASU head coach Brian Boyer. “That is what Jasmine gives you. She plays very mature, under control and is
an extremely good perimeter shooter.”
An honor student at Memphis Central, Taylor is the daughter of
Arthur and Tyra Taylor and is coached by Niki Bray at Memphis Central.
