JONESBORO, Ark. (8/21/10) - Thousands of vehicles in Jonesboro and across northeast Arkansas are now sporting A-State license plates, thanks to the tremendous success of the ASU Athletic Department's "License to Howl" program, which was held Saturday at the ASU baseball parking lot.

Automobiles were already lined up when the program kicked off at 9:00 a.m., waiting for ASU's student-athletes, coaches, cheerleaders, staff members and A-Team members to affix the special "A-State/Howl" license plates to the front bumper.

The "License to Howl" program was held in conjunction with Arkansas State's student move-in day and ASU football's Fan Appreciation Day.  Drive-through lanes were marked off in the ASU baseball parking lot, where ASU personnel greeted fans and students and attached the license plates.

The promotion also featured drinks and hot dogs compliments of Hays Grocery, along with frozen treats from the East Arkansas Broadcasters' Polar Roller.  Gift bags containing coupons and give-aways were distributed by the Wolf Bookstore and Best Buy to everyone attending.  KFIN Super Country 108 FM was also on hand with a live remote, along with 101.9 KISS FM and 95.9 The Wolf.

"As soon as we got underway this morning, it was obvious that the "License to Howl" program was a huge success," said ASU Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee.  "We are very thankful to our fans for their support and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet them and thank them in person.  With classes beginning and football season just two weeks away, it's is going to be very exciting to see the license plates on vehicles throughout the area."
