JONESBORO, Ark. (11/13/15) – Arkansas State women's tennis coach Kel Lange announced that Shannon O'Brien has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Red Wolves in the 2016-17 season.
O'Brien, a native of Hilton Head, South Carolina, was ranked as a three star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net and the sixth best player in South Carolina. “Shannon is exactly the type player we wanted in our first recruiting class,” Lange said. “She is a very high character person who excels in the class room and on the court. She fits the motto 'Always Rising' perfectly because everyday she strives to become a better athlete and a better person. She will bring a fire to our team and make the people around her better.”
O'Brien was a recipient of the 2011 USTA Kimberly Hampton Award, which honors the junior player who made the most significant improvements in her game over the last year. She was also the 2013 SC All-State Award recipient for tennis.
