A-State Football Receives Proclamation from Jonesboro Mayor

JONESBORO, Ark. (2/2/16) – Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin issued an official proclamation at Tuesday night's City Council meeting recognizing the Arkansas State football program for its accomplishments during the 2015 season, which included the team's fourth Sun Belt Conference championship in five seasons and school-record fifth straight bowl appearance.

The proclamation honors the Red Wolves as a participant in the 2015 New Orleans Bowl.  A-State became the only FBS team in the nation to win four league championships in five seasons and has a 33-6 SBC record across that time span.

A-State head coach Blake Anderson, along with Director of Player Personnel Dave Roberson, senior cornerback Rocky Hayes, senior quarterback Fredi Knighten and senior punter Luke Ferguson were on hand to accept the proclamation and a key to the city from Mayor Perrin. Coach Anderson thanked the mayor along with the entire city of Jonesboro for all of their support this season on behalf of the entire Red Wolves football squad.

Arkansas State went 9-4 on the season with a perfect 8-0 record in SBC play and made an appearance in the 2015 New Orleans Bowl after playing in four straight GoDaddy Bowl games prior.  The team placed 16 players on the All-Sun Belt Conference team after the regular season to set a school record and tie the most in Sun Belt history.

The SBC championship was the program's 11th in school history and the Red Wolves have been particularly impressive at home as the team posted its 11th straight winning record at home. A-State has accumulated a 51-11 record (.822 winning percentage) over those 11 seasons at Centennial Bank Stadium.
