Kristina Knott Tabbed SBC Female Track Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. (2/3/16) – Two personal-bests last week earned Arkansas State sophomore sprinter Kristina Knott the Sun Belt Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week honor, the league office announced Wednesday.

Knott logged two impressive performances at the KMS Invite to continue her stellar sophomore season. She posted back-to-back personal-bests in the 60-meter dash to move closer to the school record. She won the event with a time of 7.35 seconds, the second-fastest time in school history behind Sharika Nelvis (7.28).

In the 200-meter dash, she finished third but was the top collegiate finisher posting a personal-best time of 23.87 seconds, second in program history to Nelvis' 23.50. Knott maintains the top spot in each event in the Sun Belt rankings and is top-25 nationally in each.

Knott also leads the Sun Belt Conference in the long jump this season. The A-State women's team boasts eight leading marks in the SBC performance list while the men have four. Overall, the programs combine for 52 top-eight rankings between the men (29) and women (23) performance lists.

A-State resumes the indoor season this weekend with several individuals competing at the Don DeNoon Invitational in Carbondale, Ill., while the rest of the program will compete at the Birmingham CrossPlex in the South Alabama Invitational.
