SAN MARCOS, Texas (4/8/16) – The Arkansas State tennis team lost to Louisiana-Monroe by a score of 4-1 Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex on the campus of Texas State University in a neutral site Sun Belt Conference tennis match.
Julie Gauguery captured a point in the No. 1 singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over ULM's Pauline Van Herck. Gauguery also paired with Victoria Roberts for a 6-1 win over Van Herck and Ioana Popescu in the No. 1 doubles' match.
The Warhawks bounced back to take the doubles' points, however, when Victoria Pisani and Sofia Krsmanovic lost to Luana Stanciu and Tiffany Mylonas 6-2 and Sabina Jeresic and Chiara Stefanov fell to Martina Hisarova and Patricia Villar 6-4.
In singles' competition, Pisani and Stanciu were tied at one set each in the No. 6 position when the match was called. Pisani was the first set 6-1, but Stanciu battled to take the second set by the same score.
Roberts dropped the No. 2 match to Mylonas 6-0, 6-0, while Stefanov lost to Husarova 6-2, 6- and Krsmanovic fell to Villar 6-1, 6-1.
The Red Wolves return to the courts Saturday morning for a neutral site match against Louisiana-Lafayette at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
