OXFORD, Miss (4/12/16) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team dropped a doubleheader match to No. 42 Ole Miss Tuesday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center on the campus of Ole Miss.

The Red Wolves and Rebels agreed to play the match late Monday afternoon after both teams were in search of matches after suffering cancellations earlier in the year due to weather. The day consisted of two matches, with Ole Miss winning each by a score of 4-0. The day's first matchup included doubles' play, while the second match consisted of singles' matches only.

In the first match Ole Miss took the doubles point with a 6-4 and 6-1 victory in the No. 1 and No. 2 match. The Rebels clinched the win by winning points in the top-3 singles matches, while the remaining three matches were left unfinished.

In the second match, Natalie Suk defeated Shelby King 6-2, 6-0, while Zalina Khairudinova downed Victoria Roberts 6-3, 6-3. Sabina Jeresic lost to Allie Sanford 6-1, 6-3, while Brooke Steve defeated Sofia Krsmanovic 6-3, 6-1 to give Ole Miss the sweep on the day.

Gauguery, who lost to #22 Arianne Hartono 6-2, 6-1 in the first match, faced off against #104 Mai El Kamash in the second match and was up 4-3 in the second set when the match was called.

The team returns to action when it will participate in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament April 21-24 in New Orleans, La.
