JONESBORO, Ark. (4/19/16) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team has earned the No. 10 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tennis Championship tournament, set to take place April 21-24 in New Orleans, La., at the City Park Tennis Center.
A-State opens play Thursday, April 21 at 10 a.m. against the No. 7 seed Texas State (8-12) with the winner moving on to play No. 2 South Alabama Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. The two squads met earlier this season with Texas State earning a 4-1 victory on a neutral court in Lafayette, La.
Julie Gauguery led the Red Wolves with six victories throughout the season, while Sabina Jeresic and Shelby King have each earned two victories in singles' competition. Gauguery has a career mark of 22-23 entering Thursday's tournament and is on the verge of becoming the 24th student-athlete in school history to win 25 or matches in a career.
