JONESBORO, Ark. (9/21/16) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team has announced the remaining dates for its 2016 fall tournament and the dates and times for its 2017 spring dual match season.
The Red Wolves, who recently opened the season at the Saluki Invite hosted by Southern Illinois, will participate in four other tournament through the months of September, October and November before breaking for the holiday season and returning in late January for the start of their dual match campaign.
A-State returns to the courts Sept. 23-24 to take part in the UCA Invitational, followed by a trip to Fort Myers, Fla., to participate in the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational Oct. 7-9. The ITA Regional tournament is slated for Oct. 13-16 in Minneapolis, Minn., while the Red Wolves will conclude their fall season at the Wofford Invitational Nov. 4-6.
The dual match season gets under Jan. 27 when the Red Wolves will host Southeast Missouri State at home, followed by a trip to Central Arkansas the following day. Ole Miss will travel to Jonesboro Feb. 3 for a doubleheader event before Arkansas State will compete in six straight matches on the road.
The journey begins Feb. 11 at Western Kentucky, following by a quick trip to Eastern Kentucky the following day. The Red Wolves will then compete in a pair of matches in Birmingham, Ala., against Samford (Feb. 25) and UAB (Feb. 26). The trip concludes with matches at Lipscomb (March 3) and Ball State (March 5).
After the long road trip, the squad will have six straight matches at the new A-State Tennis Complex located near the A-State Track and Field and women's soccer facility. The home stand will begin March 11 against Southern Illinois, followed by matches against Alcorn State (March 12), Abilene Christian (March 16) and Memphis (March 21).
Sun Belt Conference play is slated to begin March 24 in Jonesboro against UT Arlington, followed by a matchup with UL Lafayette on March 26. The regular concludes April 7-8 with matches against UL Monroe and Texas State in Arlington, Texas.
The SBC Tournament is slated for April 20-23 in New Orleans, La.
