KENNESAW, Ga. (10/24/16) – The Arkansas State men's golf team shot a combined 589 Monday at the Pinetree Intercollegiate to complete the 54-hole tournament's opening two rounds in fourth place among 11 teams.
The Red Wolves recorded a first-round 301 to place it tied for sixth, but cut 13 strokes off that total in the second round as they climbed two places in the standings. A-State ended the day six strokes behind third-place Central Arkansas and within seven of host-school Kennesaw State. Iowa State posted a combined 580 to finish the tourney's initial day atop the leaderboard.
A-State was led by three players who finished the first two rounds with a top-20 score, including Tanner Napier in a tie for second place with a 140 (73-67), Andrew Huseman in a tie for fifth place with a 144 (73-71) and Joel Wendin in a tie for 19th with a 149 (77-72).
Also competing for the Red Wolves, Patrik Jericha is tied for 38th place with a 155 (79-76), Zan Luka Stirn is tied for 42nd with a 156 (78-78) and Matthew Cole tied for 47th with a 158 (79-79). Jericha is competing as an individual.
The Pinetree Intercollegiate's third-and-final round will be played Tuesday.
