JONESBORO, Ark. (11/10/16) – Arkansas State head women's bowling coach Justin Kostick announced Thursday that Leah Glazer and Taylor Davis have both signed a National Letter of Intent to continue their bowling careers as members of the Red Wolves' program.
Glazer, a native of Henderson, Nev., has been a member of the varsity bowling team at Bishop Gorman High School the last two seasons and was named the squad's MVP both seasons. She was a first-team All-State selection as a junior last season and finished second in both the Nevada High School Division I Tournament and Nevada State MVP Tournament. She finished third in the Nevada High School Division I Tournament as a sophomore.
Additionally, Glazer, the daughter of Irene and Joshua Glazer, was a nominee for the Las Vegas Review Journal's Best of Nevada in bowling and competed at the U20 Junior Gold Championship in 2016. She was the Southern Nevada Youth Masters U20 Girls Scratch Division Champion in 2016. She's finished as high as ninth in the U15 Junior Gold Championship and is also a scholar athlete at BGHS.
A native of Davison, Mich., Davis has been bowling for 11 years and has six Michigan Junior Masters Association championships under her belt. She was the MJMA 2015 Rookie and Bowler of the Year along with earning the 2016 Bowler of the Year. She won the 2015 Mixed Team Scratch Championship in the Michigan State Youth Tournament before being a member of the 2016 Team Scratch champions. Additionally, she was the Singles champion and All-Events champion.
Davis, the daughter of Karin and Bryan Davis, registered a fourth-place finish at the 2014 U15 Junior Gold Championships and participated in the U20 Junior Gold Championships the following year by finishing in 24th place. She's a three-year varsity bowler for Davison High School and has helped the team to three consecutive appearances in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division I State Championship match, winning the title in 2014 and 2016. She's a three-time All-Conference and All-State selection in addition to being named the Conference MVP in 2016. Her 2016 accolades don't end there as she was the state's Singles champion with a perfect 300 game in the finals.
“Both players have had a nice youth and high school career,” Kostick said. “I really like that both players have a nice classic game and are able to play all parts of the lane. Versatility to me is a very big key in bringing them on as Red Wolves.”
A-State is currently in the midst of the 2016-17 season and return to action this weekend at the Warhawk Classic being hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater Nov. 11-13 in Kenosha, Wis.
