STATESBORO, Ga. (5/24/17) – The Arkansas State baseball team will now open play at the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Tournament Thursday at 2 p.m. (CT) after being postponed for the second consecutive day due to poor field conditions and the threat of inclement weather in the Statesboro, Ga., area.

Additionally, the whole SBC Tournament will now be played as a single-elimination event throughout with the two original single-elimination games to be played tomorrow. No. 7 A-State will play No. 10 Georgia State at 2 p.m. (CT), while No. 8 Texas State and No. 9 Little Rock will follow at 5:30 p.m.  Friday's action will feature four games before two games on Saturday and the championship final on Sunday.

Considering field conditions, the amount of rainfall over the past few days and forecasted into the overnight hours, it was determined that the single-elimination format was the only option that provided the best opportunity for the tournament to be fully completed and decided on the field.

The Red Wolves were originally scheduled to play in a single-elimination matchup with Georgia State on Tuesday and then on Wednesday, but were unable to play. If A-State wins they would advance to play UT Arlington Friday at 11:30 a.m. (CT), while Georgia State would play Coastal Carolina Friday if the Panthers were to win.
