A-State Women's Bowling Ranks Third in Preseason Poll

JONESBORO, Ark. (10/5/17) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team is ranked third in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Preseason Poll, which was recently announced by the NTCA.

The Red Wolves received 1,174 points to land the third spot on the poll behind Nebraska (1,212 points and one first-place vote) and McKendree University (1,360 points and 35 first-place votes). Vanderbilt was fourth with 1,152 points while Sam Houston State rounded out the top five with 1,066 points.

Arkansas State finished last year season in a tie for fifth place in the NCAA Bowling Tournament and ended their season 86-38, with 86 wins representing the third most in program history.

A-State is set to return reigning DI Player of the Year Jordan Richard along with seniors Haley Richard and Jadee Scott-Jones, who were Second-Team and Third-Team All-American selections, respectively, a season ago to the nationally ranked bowling squad. All in all, the Red Wolves return six letterwinners and welcome two new freshmen to the team.

The 2017-18 season rolls off for Arkansas State Oct. 27-29 when the Red Wolves travel to St. Louis, Mo., to participate in the McKendree Bearkat Open.
