|Position:||Defensive Graduate Assistant|
Larry Hart enters his second season as a graduate assistant coach with the Arkansas State football program.
His first season at A-State saw the Red Wolves post a 7-6 record and play in the 2015 GoDaddy Bowl.
Hart, who works on the defensive side of the ball, came to Arkansas State after spending time the previous two years working as a certified personal trainer/fitness specialist at Bailey’s Gym (Jacksonville, Fla.), an intern with the strength and conditioning staff at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) and as the general manager for Custom Built Personal Training (Jacksonville, Fla.)
Prior to serving in those roles, Hart spent two years (2010-12) as a player in the National Football League (NFL). Hart was taken in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft as the No. 143 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars, making him UCA’s highest draft selection all-time. Hart also spent time in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders, while also playing for the United Football League’s (UFL) Virginia Destroyers and the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Calgary Stampeders.
Playing defensive end, Hart was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year in the Southland Conference in 2008 and 2009 after transferring from Holmes Community College. He was also a two-time All-America selection during his time with the Bears.
The Madison, Miss. native earned his bachelor’s degree in health sciences from UCA in 2013.
