Ben Turner is entering his third year overall at Arkansas State University and is in his first year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. His main responsibilities are the Arkansas State Women’s Basketball, Women’s Tennis, and Women’s Bowling teams.
Turner’s duties include providing first aid, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and field coverage specifically for the Arkansas State women’s basketball, tennis, and bowling teams. He also assists the Arkansas State football team in fall camp and in the Red Wolves’ home contests. He also implements a treatment and rehabilitation program for A-State student-athletes with various musculoskeletal pathologies including upper and lower extremities. Turner also works closely with the strength and conditioning staff to provide safe workouts for athletes with injuries and to improve injury prevention. He also communicates with student-athletes, coaching staff, and team physicians on a regular basis. Turner also works with the rest of the sports medicine staff to provide yearly physicals and concussion testing for all Arkansas State student-athletes.
Before becoming a full-time staff member at Arkansas State, Turner worked as an athletic training graduate assistant with the Arkansas State football team and served as the athletic trainer for the ROTC Red Wolf Battalion.
Turner earned his Master of Science in Exercise Science in the spring of 2016 from Arkansas State University and his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Cumberland University in 2014.
Prior to coming to Arkansas State, Turner attended Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. There he assisted in coverage, treatment, and rehabilitation for Cumberland football, baseball, men’s basketball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, men’s soccer, and women’s soccer. While at Cumberland, he also assisted in coverage, treatment, and rehabilitation for various sports teams at Lebanon High School and Friendship Christian School.
Turner is a BOC certified athletic trainer and is licensed in the State of Arkansas. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Arkansas Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is also certified in Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association.
He lives in Jonesboro with his wife Arielle.
