JONESBORO, Ark. (12/12/14) – Arkansas State Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir announced Friday that Jason Martin has been named the Red Wolves’ Associate Athletics Director for External Relations.

Martin, who comes to A-State with over 10 years’ experience in collegiate athletics, will supervise marketing, multimedia, ticket sales, promotions, fan experience, social media (marketing and sales) and special events.

A prior NACDA/NACMA Convention presenter on ticket sales and marketing initiatives, Martin has also worked numerous NCAA events and most recently spent the last three years as the Director of Athletics Ticket Sales at Ohio State.  His athletics background also includes stops at the University of Memphis, East Carolina University and the University at Buffalo.

“My wife, Katrina, and I are thrilled to join the Red Wolves family and the Jonesboro community,” said Martin.  “I couldn’t feel more grateful or blessed for the opportunity to continue advancing this department and university.  I look forward to getting out into the community and aiding in building the Red Wolves brand together with our great fan base.  I’d like to thank Terry for this opportunity and his bright vision for the future of A-State athletics and look forward to contributing in any way I can.”

During his time at Ohio State, Martin oversaw ticket sales and marketing while also assisting with fan experience, promotions and multimedia rights.  The Buckeyes established a new high of $1.27 million in revenue generated from new business through ticket sales and $1.7 million of total financial impact for the fiscal year 2013-14.

Under Martin’s leadership, the Olympic Sports Group Sales also increased from 11,295 tickets and $62,320 of revenue to 44,511 and $219,429.  He also voluntarily assumed leadership of Ohio State’s Fan Experience and Promotions team during a transitional period, during which time he oversaw all marketing responsibilities for the men’s basketball team during the 2013-14 campaign.

“We are excited to add someone with Jason’s experience and proven track record to our athletics department staff,” said Mohajir.  “He has not only implemented many successful initiatives at his previous stops, they have been in a wide variety of areas.  He has established himself as a tremendous leader, and we look forward to having him as a part of our team as we continue to build our national brand.”

Martin went to Ohio State after spending over two years as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions at Memphis, during which time he also served as the interim director overseeing the area.  During his stint with the Tigers, he directed a season ticket campaign which sold out season tickets at FedExForum for the first time in Memphis basketball history.

The Saratoga Springs, New York native served as a Sport Marketing and Special Events intern at East Carolina from August 2005-April 2006, which followed a six-month stint as an Athletics Development Assistant at his alma mater, the University at Buffalo.

Martin earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology before going on to complete his master‘s degree in sport administration from Canisius College in 2005.  After earning his master’s, Martin worked one year with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills as both a Season Ticket Sales Account Executive and Catalog/Internet and Game Day Sales Associate.

Following his time with the Bills, Martin served as an Athletics Administration and Corporate Sales Intern at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York.
