JONESBORO, Ark. (7/10/17) – Arkansas State senior football student-athlete Blaise Taylor has been named as 146 nominees for the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team the organization announced Monday.

The award is regarded as one of the most prestigious off-the-field honors in college football and recognizes players who take part in charitable activities throughout the year while also maintaining a strong academic standing.

Taylor was one of just eight students to receive the Arkansas State University Distinguished Award. Winners are recognized as the institution's most-outstanding graduates because of their leadership, scholarship and citizenship. He was among the recipients who have all provided countless hours of service to the community, their classmates, their departments and colleges and to Arkansas State University.

The Waco, Texas native has given his time to many organizations in the Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas Area including Special Olympics, health and wellness education, Autism Walks, alcohol and drug awareness events and volunteered to work at local At-Risk community centers.

In the classroom he earned his undergraduate degree in August of 2016 in Business Administration. He graduated magna cum laude with a grade point average of 3.832 and took just two-and-a-half years to complete his undergraduate work. He is currently working on his master's degree in business administration.

Among his other academic achievements, Taylor has appeared multiple times on the Arkansas State University Chancellor's List, Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List and the A-State Athletics Director's Honor Roll. He was named a Top 10 junior in the College of Business in 2015-16 and is a recipient of the Strong-Turner 3.0 Society award.

The 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will be comprised of 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Division (FCS). A special voting panel consisting former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members and prominent media members will select the team in September. Following the selection of the team, fans will have an opportunity to vote for the team captain.

Season tickets for the Red Wolves' 2017 football campaign, which includes six home games, are available for purchase. Arkansas State has had 12 consecutive seasons with a winning record at home and has won 30 of its lasts 36 games at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Single game tickets will be available for purchase beginning Aug. 1.
