KENOSHA, Wis. (11/10/17) – The third-ranked Red Wolves women’s bowling team finished 4-1 and is atop the total pinfall standings to end day one at the Warhawk Classic at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha, Wis.
A-State (22-9) knocked over 1,000 pins in all five Baker matches today, landing them in first place to end the day with a total of 5,211 pins. No. 2 Nebraska (5,203), No. 4 Vanderbilt (5,161), No. 1 McKendree (5,038) and No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson (5,027) closed out the top five with Nebraska and McKendree being the only unbeaten teams so far at 5-0.
In the first Baker match, A-State rolled past Sacred Heart, beating them 1,018-891. The Red Wolves took their sole lost in match two, as they faced Fairleigh Dickinson, losing in a tiebreaker match, 106-88 after being tied 1,076-1,076. In the third match, the Red Wolves bounced back against Central Missouri, beating the Jennies 1,001-906 and then went on to defeat Long Island-Brooklyn 1,030-790. The squad ended the night strong, rolling their highest total of the night as A-State beat Maryville University, 1,086-983.
Game one of traditional matches rolls off tomorrow at 9:35 a.m. as the Red Wolves are set to take on Vanderbilt University, who also posted a 4-1 record for the day. They’ll also face Nebraska, Saint Francis University, McKendree and Lincoln University (Mo.) during day two of the Warhawk Classic.
