JONESBORO (8/1/07) – Arkansas State football fans in and around Central Arkansas will have no problems following the Tribe this season, as ASU Athletics and East Arkansas Broadcasters announced Wednesday that all ASU Football games this year will be carried on KABF 88.3 FM in Little Rock.
KABF is operated by the Arkansas Broadcasting Foundation and has a 100,000-watt signal. The station’s signal reaches more than 70 miles on any side of the Capitol City, reaching Brinkley to the east, Fordyce to the south, Clarksville to the west and the Twin Lakes area to the north.
“What this does is greatly enhances our coverage in Central Arkansas. Being on a 100,000-watt station definitely means more of our fans will be able to hear the games,” said Bobby Caldwell, owner and CEO of East Arkansas Broadcasters, which operates the Arkansas State Radio Network. “It’s a huge plus for the ASU program, and it’s another step in making the Arkansas State Radio Network bigger and better.”
EAB recently announced that all 2007 ASU football broadcasts will originate from 95.9 “The Wolf,” KWHF-FM in Jonesboro. The combination of the flagship signal and KABF, along with the existing ASR Network affiliates, will ensure that ASU football can be heard across the entire eastern half of Arkansas as well as into the Bootheel of Missouri and Western Tennessee.
"We are delighted to extend the coverage of our radio broadcasts in the Central Arkansas area,” Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee said. “The addition of KABF is part of our plans in working with East Arkansas Broadcasters to further expand the Arkansas State Radio Network."
The complete list of ASR Network affiliates will be released in the coming days. The Indians open their 2007 campaign on Sept. 1 at Texas. ASU plays its first home game Sept. 8 against Memphis.
