JONESBORO (2/5/10) – After a couple of weeks layoff due to winter weather the Arkansas State track and field teams returned to action at the Middle Tennessee Invitational Saturday in Murfressboro.

The Red Wolves continued domination in the women's pole vault event taking first through third places. Stephanie Foreman won the event with a jump of 13-00. Erica Naeger was second with a jump of 12-5 and Carolyn Lewis was third at 12-0.

Solomon Williams continued to come through for ASU when he finished third in the triple jump with a distance of 46-5.25 and fourth in the 55 meter hurdles posting a time of 7.57.

ASU went third through fifth in the men's shot put with Bryant Hankton finishing third at 50-7 followed by Corwin Pace at 50-6 and Jesse Williams at 49-6.

Hankton took first place in the men's weight throw with a hurl of 62-7 while Williams ranked third at 56-1.

In the men's mile James Ngwiri finished second in 4:12.14. In the 3,000 meters Michael Miller finished fourth on the men's side at 8:44.39 while Reilly McAtee was third on the women's side at 10:36.34.

In the women's mile Samantha Salinas finished just six seconds behind the winner placing ninth at 5:09.38.

“I think it was a very solid performance we got better in a lot of phases but it was by no means a complete meet performance which is what we need,” said ASU head coach Lon Badeaux.  “So that is our focus for next week and try to move forward and do well in our next meet.”
