ASU Bowling Claims Second at Griffin Invitational

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (2/7/10) - The Arkansas State women's bowling team recorded its fourth second place finish of the season after posting a 9-5 record at the Griffin Invitational in St. Louis, Mo.  ASU landed in second behind Nebraska with an 11-3 record on the weekend.

The Red Wolves went 2-2 on the final day of competition, beating Nebraska 983-938 and Central Missouri 922-806.  ASU's losses came against Louisiana Tech (925-838) and Minnesota State-Mankato (924-919).

Sophomore Samantha Santoro earned her fourth all-tournament honor, while freshman Rachael Gittings earned her third of the year.

"We got big wins today against UCM and Nebraska," said ASU head coach Justin Kostick.  "We're still in good shape and are leading in win-loss in the central region at this point.  We have just two tournaments left, so we need to make sure we have everything going well.  I was really impressed with the girls mentally this weekend."

The Red Wolves will return to the lanes Feb. 27-28 at the Holiday Classic in Bessemer, Ala.
