JONESBORO, Ark. (5/17/12) - The Arkansas State women's soccer program
has released its competition schedule for the upcoming 2012 season which
includes 10 home contests.
"Our non-conference schedule includes teams that will test us enough
to prepare for a challenging conference schedule," said head coach Tafadzwa
Ziyenge. "We are eager to see how this balanced schedule will shape up as we
try to mix in several new players with our returners."
ASU will host two exhibition games at the ASU Soccer Complex on Aug. 10
& 12 hosting Alabama-Birmingham at 5 p.m. on the Aug. 10 and Jackson State
at 1 p.m. on Aug. 12.
The Red Wolves begin their regular season on the road at Indiana on Aug.
17 before returning home for their home opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on
Aug. 19 at 2 p.m.
ASU then begins a stretch of regional opponents at Murray State on Aug.
24, at Memphis on Aug. 31 and returns home to face Tennessee-Martin on Sept. 7
at 2 p.m. and Central Arkansas on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m..
Road games at Southern Miss on Sept. 14 and at Grambling Sept. 15
complete nonconference action for the Red Wolves before the being league play
on the road at Western Kentucky on Sept. 21 and at Middle Tennessee on Sept.
30.
ASU faces Louisiana-Monroe at home Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. and hosts
Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. before continuing action on the road
at Troy Oct. 5 and at South Alabama on Oct. 7.
The Red Wolves play their final four games of the season in Arkansas and
three of their last four at home hosting North Texas, Florida International and
Florida Atlantic while traveling to instate rival UALR for the season finale.
ASU faces the Mean Green on Oct. 12 at 2 p.m., the Golden Panthers on
Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. and the Owls on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. before traveling to face
the Trojans of UALR on Oct. 26 for a 7 p.m. kick off.
