Red Wolves Host First Scarlet Scramble Of The Summer

JONESBORO, Ark. (6/7/12) - The Arkansas State athletics department kicked off its summer Scarlet Scramble series by hosting its first event at the Osceola Country Club Wednesday.

This marked the 45th year for the event in Osceola, which is the longest running Scarlet Scramble for the Red Wolves. Head football coach Gus Malzahn was the keynote speaker at the dinner and auction which was held after the round of golf.

The Scarlet Scramble events allow coaches and staff members from the ASU athletic department to be paired with scramble teams comprised of ASU supporters.

The event was won by the team of Gerald Davis, Brad Driver, Frank Richardson, Lisa Golden & A-State Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee.

"We are so thankful to the volunteers who work so hard to make this a success and to the Osceola Country Club for being such gracious hosts," said ASU Associate Athletic Director and Director of the Red Wolf Club Doug Doggett.  "We had great weather and a tremendous turnout.  We could not have scripted a better event."

The Red Wolves will return to the links on Friday hosting its second Scarlet Scramble event of the season at the Newport Country Club in Newport, Ark. Tee time in Newport is set for 1 p.m. with dinner and live auction to follow.
