JONESBORO, Ark. (7/31/12) – Arkansas
State head soccer coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge welcomed 24 student-athletes to campus
on Tuesday, including 11 newcomers to the A-State program in preparation for
the 2012 ASU soccer season.
The Red Wolves went through team meetings, physicals and team photos on Tuesday
before breaking in preparation for the first team practice Wednesday morning at
6:30 a.m. at the ASU Soccer Complex. The Red Wolves will host practice again at
5 p.m. on Wednesday.
This season marks the 13th in program
history and is the third season for Ziyenge as the head coach at ASU. In 2011
the Red Wolves finished 7-10-3 and advanced to the Sun Belt Conference
Tournament for the first time since 2009.
A-State will play one exhibition match against
Alabama-Birmingham Aug. 10 before opening their regular season on the road at Indiana
Aug. 17. ASU hosts its home opener Aug. 19 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 5
p.m.
