A-State Baseball Players Honored for Academic Excellence

LAFAYETTE, La. (5/21/13) — Nine Arkansas State baseball players were honored for their outstanding achievements in the classroom on Tuesday at the Sun Belt Conference's “Family Night” from M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field on the campus of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Five ASU baseball players were recognized for maintaining GPA's above 3.5 during the past year. Kaleb Brown, John Koch, Dustin Jones, John Koch, Brandon Milhouse, Alex Potts and Tyler Winfield were given certificates for their hard word in the classroom.

Senior catcher Ryan Roberts and sophomore pitcher Chandler Hawkins were each honored on the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honors, which is comprised of student-athletes who maintain a GPA between 3.0-3.49.  

A-State will begin play in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Wednesday against the top-seeded Trojans of Troy. ASU will start First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection Daniel Wright, while Troy will counter with freshman lefthander Levi Tate.
