EUGENE, Ore. (6/9/15) – Three Red Wolves will be representing Arkansas State track and field this week as they travel to the 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 10-13 at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The meet will be broadcast live on the ESPN family of networks.
“It's been a long season and we have had some success this year and our guys feel pretty good about where they are nationally and I know they are ready,” A-State head coach Jim Patchell said. “I'm confident in these three and know they will give it their best effort.”
Senior pole-vaulter Ethan Sandusky is seeded fourth (5.35m/17-06.50) entering the championship after going a perfect 4-for-4 at the NCAA West Preliminaries. Sandusky's personal-best came registers at 5.45m (17-10.50) and he is scheduled to take the runway to vault in the No. 2 position shortly after 6:00 p.m. (CT).
Sophomore Roelf Pienaar looks to claim top honors in the long jump with the competition slated to begin at 7:15 p.m. (CT). Pienaar will be in the second of two flights and jump fourth. Pienaar is seeded third with a leap of 7.98m (26-2.25) at the NCAA West Preliminaries.
Senior Richard Chavez rounds out the slate for A-State as he will compete in the shot put at 7:30 p.m. Chavez qualified for the final with a throw of 18.73m (61-05.50) and is seeded 19th among his competitors.
Wednesday's action will air on ESPN3 starting at 4 p.m. (CT) until 9 p.m. (CT). At 9 p.m. (CT), ESPNU will carry the meet live and broadcast until 12:30 a.m. (CT).
