Tanner Seal was named the assistant women's bowling coach by head coach Justin Kostick prior to the beginning of the 2016-17 season.

The Red Wolves went 88-36 with the 88 wins moving into third most in school history after 86 in 2016-17 was. Seal assisted the team and helped coach Jordan Richard to her second NTCA Division I Player of the Year award and also helped Haley Richard earn NTCA Second-Team All-American honors for the second straight campaign. 

Seal helped the Red Wolves to an 86-38 record, which was the third most wins in program history. A-State also advanced to its 10th straight NCAA Tournament during Seal's first season with the team in 2016-17.

A-State won two tournaments and finished second in four others with Seal's help, including a runner-up finish at the Southland Bowling League Tournament. Jordan Richard won the National Tenpin Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year, while the team garnered 13 All-Tournament selections and five MVP awards over the course of the season.

Prior to coming to Arkansas State he helped out as a volunteer coach at the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Ky.

A native of Jonesboro, Ark., Seal bowled collegiately at Pikeville for two seasons. The Bears won the Mid-South Conference championship during both of his seasons there and he was First-Team All-Conference for the 2014-15 season.  During his time at Pikeville, he was named to three all-tournament squads.

Seal went to Jonesboro High School and played football and soccer for the Hurricane. He majored in criminology while at the University of Pikeville.
