JONESBORO, Ark. (5/20/17) – The Arkansas State baseball team's series and regular-season finale against Little Rock has been cancelled due to poor field conditions and the threat of more inclement weather throughout the day Saturday.
The game will not be made up per conference regulations stating that no game can be played past Saturday in advance of the conference tournament week. The series finale was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. today, but was moved to game two of a doubleheader yesterday in an attempt to beat the weather today.
However, there was a weather delay of two and a half hours during game one of yesterday's doubleheader, a 19-2 A-State win, and the schools decided to attempt to play the series finale today. The rainfall received yesterday added onto the heavy rain overnight and into the morning hours made Kell Field at Tomlinson Stadium unplayable.
The Red Wolves will finish the regular season with a 26-26 record and 13-16 mark in league play. A-State will be the seventh seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and play the 10th seed Georgia State. The SBC will release the official bracket later today after other league games have been completed. For the latest on A-State baseball follow the team by logging onto the Arkansas State Baseball Facebook page or by following the team on Twitter (@AStateBaseball) and Instagram (arkansasstatebaseball).
