READING, Pa. (1/21/18) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling squad registered a sixth-place finish Sunday in the final day of the Kutztown Invitational being held at Hiester Lanes in Reading, Pa.

A-State began the day with a match against Delaware State and fell behind the Lady Hornets 3-2 (194-157, 179-201, 213-247, 248-224, 181-204). However, the Red Wolves rolled a 257 to DSU’s 180 in game six to force a decisive game seven, but Delaware State took the match with a 224-203 victory.

Arkansas State bowled against Saint Francis University in its next match with A-State winning game one 214-194 before the Red Flash earned a 217-192 victory in game two. SFU couldn’t keep the momentum as the Red Wolves reeled off three straight wins (201-163, 236-195, 225-192) for a 4-1 victory.

The team squared off versus Delaware State again in the fifth place match and took the first game 204-178 before DSU won two straight by scores of 238-203 and 247-208 to take a 2-1 edge. A-State bounced back with wins in games four and five by scores of 226-159 and 195-147 for a 3-2 advantage. However, the Lady Hornets had the Red Wolves’ number again as they won game six 192-174 before a close 254-242 win in game seven to send A-State to sixth place.

The Red Wolves concluded the event with a 9-4 record, which the squad has recorded in every tournament this season, to bring the team’s overall mark to 45-20. Jadee Scott-Jones was named to the All-Tournament Third Team for her performance yesterday. The East Providence, R.I., native finished 13th with a total pinfall of 1,074 for a 214.80 per match average.

McKendree won the event with a 4-3 victory over Vanderbilt in the finals.
