SANDESTIN, Fla. (04/15/18) – The Arkansas State women’s golf team completed the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Sunday at the Raven Golf Club in seventh place among 11 teams.

The Red Wolves opened the tournament with a first-round 311. The squad currently sits only one stroke back from sixth-place Texas State and trails UT Arlington and Appalachian State, which are tied for fourth place, by four strokes. A-State ended the first round of play with two players among the top 25 individuals, and another among the top 30, in a field of 54 golfers.

Senior Beth Ann Compton shot a first-round 75 to tie for 13th place, while junior Aracelly Jimenez Rios is tied for 23rd with an 18-hole 77. Senior Sarah Childers carded an opening-round 79 to tie for 28th place.

Also competing for the Red Wolves, sophomore Grayson Gladden finished the first round tied for 31st place after posting an 80. Senior Emma Miller recorded an 83 for the first round to place her in a tie for the 41st position.

The second round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be played on Monday.
