James Diaz is entering his first year at Arkansas State, where he serves as the Director of Basketball Athletic Performance.
In this role, he oversees the athletic performance programs for men’s basketball and men’s golf. James comes to Arkansas State after serving the last three years at the University of South Florida. James began his tenure at South Florida by working as an intern with all 17 varsity sports. Shortly after, he was promoted to an Athletic Performance Specialist, primarily assisting with men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer and baseball.
Following his role as an Athletic Performance Specialist, James became a Strength and Conditioning Assistant, in which he assisted with all aspects of the football strength and conditioning program, while implementing training programs for the sailing team and the spirit squads.
James earned his bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Sports Management from Florida International University and his master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of South Florida. James is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association.
