MOBILE, Ala. (9/16/18) – Grayson Gladden shot a career-best 67 Sunday at the USA Intercollegiate, leading the Arkansas State women’s golf team that finished the 54-hole tournament’s second round in 11th place among 17 teams with a combined 593.

Gladden’s second-round score, which is the best by an A-State player since at least 2005, helped her climb 29 spots in the standings from tied for 34th to fifth. The junior is currently one stroke behind fourth-place Ramya Meerakshisundaran of South Florida and within five of individual leader Hanna Kiefer of Stetson.

Although the Red Wolves cut three strokes off their first-round score with a 295 for the second 18 holes, they dropped one spot in the standings. They are leading three Sun Belt Conference teams and are within six strokes of three teams tied for eighth place.

Also competing for A-State, Beth Ann Compton and Olivia Schmidt are tied for 58th place after both shot a combined 152 for the opening 36 holes. Aracelly Jimenez Rios is tied for 64th place with a 153 and Maria Jose Atristain is tied for 71st with a 155. Playing as an individual, Marisa Marquez holds a 151 through two rounds that has her tied for 49th place.
