JONESBORO, Ark. (3/29/19) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis lost a Sun Belt Conference tennis 4-1 to South Alabama Sunday afternoon at the A-State Tennis Complex.
Pornpawee Pramethong captured the only point of the afternoon by knocking off the Jaguar’s Alexandria Stiteler 6-3, 6-4 on court one. Pramethong is now 5-7 on the year and 3-2 in conference play.
In other single’s competition Shelby King lost to Yu Fujioka 7-5, 6-2, while Berta Masdevall Masip lost to Nikola Kohoutova 6-0, 6-1 on court four. In her first match of the season, Eliza Babos lost to the Diana Monsalve 6-0, 6-0 on court six.
South Alabama gained the early advantage by taking the doubles point after Milka Pasanen and Patricia Martins defeated Anita Detlava and Masdevall Masip 6-4 on court one and clinched the point when Stiteler and Fujioka captured a 6-4 victory over Shannon O’Brien and King on court two.
The Red Wolves return to action Saturday April 6 at Texas State.
