ASU?s Blevins Named to NGCA All-American Scholar Team

JONESBORO (7/1/09) ? Arkansas State women's golfer Courtney Blevins has been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team, announced Tuesday by the NGCA.

Blevins, who will be a senior on the 2009-10 squad, competed in 11 tournaments last season with the Red Wolves while holding down a cumulative 3.66 GPA in Nursing. The Bluff Dale, Texas native is a three-year letterwinner that has played in 33 tournaments and holds 11 top-25 finishes.

Blevins had a season-best 11th-place finish last season at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.  She averaged 83.3 strokes per round with a single-round best score of 75.

“We are so excited to have Courtney recognized in this way,” said ASU head women's golf coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. “She is a very talented and dedicated student-athlete. I am very fortunate to have her as one of the leaders of our young team.”

To qualify for selection to the prestigious NCGA All-American Scholar team, student-athletes must maintain at least a cumulative 3.50 GPA and must have competed in at least 50 percent (Division I) of the team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
