JONESBORO, Ark. (11/26/12) – The Arkansas State University men’s and women’s track and field teams will officially start the 2012-13 indoor season this Sunday (Dec. 2) afternoon as the Red Wolves host their annual ASU Kickoff Klassic at the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark.  

The season-opening non-scoring meet will start at 12 p.m. (CT) with the throwing events and preliminary races for the running events.  The jumps and pole vault events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (CT) while the running event finals are slated to get underway at 3 p.m. (CT).

"We are excited about getting started with our home indoor track meet this Sunday," said ASU head coach Jim Patchell.  "The ASU Kickoff Klassic will give us a chance to assess our progress this fall.  We have quite a bit of talent with this group and I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do in competition."

Besides host A-State, the ASU Kickoff Klassic will include student-athletes representing teams from Memphis, Central Arkansas, UALR, Missouri State, Southeast Louisiana, Arkansas Baptist, Harding, and Mississippi Valley State.

The Red Wolves are slated to participate in eight meets during this upcoming indoor season, including hosting the A-State Invitational on Jan. 25 at the Convocation Center on the ASU campus.  A-State will wrap up the regular-season portion of its 2012-13 indoor schedule on Feb. 24-25 as the Red Wolves host the 2013 Sun Belt Conference (SBC) Indoor Track and Field Championships in Jonesboro.
