JONESBORO, Ark. (10-24-2009) - Junior Murray Watts' two-run home run in the top of the first jump-started the Black team offense on the way to a 7-3 victory over the Red team in game two of the Red Wolf World Series Friday night at Tomlinson Stadium and Kell Field.
With the win, the Black team took a 2-0 lead in the series, which will continue Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Games four and five are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28 and Thursday, Oct. 29. Both contests are scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.
Watts added a two-run double in the third to go along with a sacrifice fly from senior Giovanni Garcia that stretched the Black team's lead to 5-0. An RBI from senior Josh DeMoney in the fourth bumped the lead to 6-0 before senior Kyle DeGrace put the Reds on the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame with a two-run home run.
An RBI hit from freshman Brandon Milhouse in the seventh cut the Black team's lead to 6-3, but DeMoney answered in the eighth with his second RBI of the night to set the final score at 7-3.
Watts went 3-for-4 with four RBI's, and junior Todd Baumgartner added a 2-for-5 effort to lead the Black team. DeGrace and freshman Michael Faulkner both went 2-for-4 to lead the Red team.
Junior Andy Ferguson picked up the win for the Black team, giving up two earned runs in four innings of work. Freshman Justin O'Brien gave up one unearned run in four innings of work, and junior Brad Allen earned the save, striking out one batter without surrendering a run in one inning.
Junior Andres Caceres gave up five runs in three innings on the mound to take the loss for the Red team.
