JONESBORO, Ark. (11/23/09) - Arkansas State head baseball coach Tommy Raffo announced Monday that Wentzville,  Mo. (Timberland High School) pitcher Jon Glidewell signed a National Letter of Intent during the Nov. 11-18 early signing period to continue his baseball career at ASU.

A 6-2, 170-pound left-hander, Glidewell earned all-conference honors following his junior season at Timberland after posting a 5-2 record that included a 3-0 mark in conference action, with an ERA of 1.52.  Glidewell led the Wolves to victory over the defending Missouri state champions in the 2009 district semifinals, throwing a complete-game shutout to get the victory.

"Jon is a crafty left-hander who will add depth to our pitching staff from the left side," said Raffo.  "He is deceptive and fills up the strike zone.  We are very excited that he has chosen to be a Red Wolf."

Glidewell is coached by Frank Masters at Timberland and also competes on the St. Louis Gamers travel squad.  With the Gamers, he is coached by former ASU baseball and Major League Baseball pitcher Matt Whiteside.  He is the son of Rick and Pam Glidewell.
