JONESBORO, Ark. (12/2/09) – ASU head baseball coach Tommy Raffo announced Wednesday that Kaskaskia (Ill.) Junior College infielder Anthony Hecht has signed a National Letter of Intent with Arkansas State and will join the Red Wolves’ lineup during the 2010-11 season.
Hecht (5-11, 180 pounds) earned first-team All-Regional honors at Kaskaskia after hitting .395 with 68 hits, including 16 doubles, five triples and four home runs. He drove in 46 runs and had an on-base percentage of .468. Hecht was Kaskaskia’s team leader in hits, doubles, triples and stolen bases (10).
“Anthony is a very athletic infielder who will fill our needs following the loss of two senior middle infielders on this year’s team,” said Raffo. “He is a very good left-side defender with the ability to play shortstop and second base at a high level.”
Hecht was coached by Mitch Koester at Kaskaskia and is the son of Jerry and Donna Hecht.
