LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (2/3/10) -Arkansas State (9-13, 4-7) saw its two-game win streak snapped Wednesday night as the Red Wolves suffered a 79-48 loss to the UALR Trojans (17-5, 10-1) in Sun Belt Conference women's basketball action at the Jack Stephens Center. 

Cold shooting and turnovers plagued the Red Wolves from the start, helping the Trojans jump out to a 26-4 lead with just over 10 minutes gone in the game. 

Arkansas State answered with seven straight, capping the run with a three-pointer from freshman Jasmine Taylor that cut the UALR lead to 15 at 26-11 with 8:27 remaining in the half, but UALR closed out the half with a 15-7 run to give the Trojans a 41-18 lead at the break.

Sixteen turnovers and 28 percent shooting from the Red Wolves helped UALR build its 23-point lead at the break.  UALR countered with 43.2 percent shooting from the field and got 24 first-half points from junior Chastity Reed, who finished the night with a game-high 37 points.

Junior Shay Scott and freshman Quinishia McDowell each finished with eight points to lead ASU, with Taylor adding seven points on the night.  Senior Lyndsay Schlup led ASU on the boards with seven rebounds with Taylor adding six.  Taylor's point and rebound totals were both career highs.

In addition to Reed's 37 points and 10 rebounds, UALR also got 16 points and 12 rebounds from sophomore Marian Kursh, 12 points from senior Kim Sitzmann and 11 from junior Asriel Rolfe.

The Red Wolves' two-game road trip continues Saturday when Arkansas State visits the New Orleans Privateers in a 4:30 p.m. game at Lakefront Arena.
