AUSTIN, Texas (5/26/12) -Arkansas State sophomore Sharika Nelvis qualified
for her second event at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in as
many days by running a 12.99 in the 100 hurdles during the final day of
competition at the NCAA West Prelims Saturday.
Nelvis Friday in the 100m before running the second-fastest
time in the 100 hurdles, including winning the third heat of the event. Nelvis
broke her own ASU school record running the first sub-13 second 100 hurdles in
school history. Her time was the fastest non-wind assisted time recorded at the
meet.
Nelvis moves on to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field
Championships, which will be held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, on June
6-9.
Junior Solomon Williams finished sixth in the second heat of the 110
hurdles semifinal posting a time of 13.93. Williams was 18th overall
in the event.
Sophomore Ethan Sandusky finished ninth and 32nd overall in
the men's pole vault achieving a height of 5.10m.
