JONESBORO (8/3/12) - Arkansas State Head Football Coach Gus Malzahn announced Friday that offensive lineman Will Latu, the No. 7 ranked junior college prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, has signed with the Red Wolves after spending the last two seasons at College of the Canyons (Calif.).

The 6-5, 315 pound Latu (pronounced Luh-too) will have two years of eligibility remaining at A-State.  He played offensive tackle for the Cougars, earning national recognition by several recruiting services as a top-tier player in the junior college ranks.  He was listed as a four-star recruit by both Rivals.com and 247Sports.com and achieved a three-star rating by Scout.com.

Rivals.com not only placed him among the top seven overall junior college recruits in the 2012 signing class, but also listed him as the No. 1 junior college offensive lineman in the county.  Latu was ranked as the No. 23 junior college player in the nation by 247Sports.com as well.

Latu did not play football until his senior year of high school, but still earned all-county and All-Suncoast recognition while attending Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, Fla.
