JONESBORO, Ark. (8/17/2012) —Arkansas State pitcher Daniel Wright
has been named as a New England Coast Baseball League First-Team selection the
league announced on Thursday.
Wright helped lead the Newport Gulls to the NECBL 2012
Championship in summer league baseball after posting a 6-0 regular season
record in 45 2/3 innings. He also finished the season with a 3.92 ERA, added 42
strikeouts and had one shut out.
In the post season, Wright went 2-0 in 16 innings of work,
including a complete-game victory over Danbury in the first game of the NECBL
Championship Series. In the game he allowed just two runs on eight hits while
striking out 11 to earn the victory.
Wright will enter his senior season this year after helping lead
the Red Wolves to the Sun Belt Conference Championship game in 2012. He
finished the year with a 3-6 record, struck out 53 batters and issued just 27
walks on the year for A-State. He was second on the team with 75 1/3 innings
pitched and recorded the second most starts on the team with 14.
