HATTIESBURG, Miss. (9/14/12) – The Arkansas State
women’s soccer fell to Southern Mississippi 2-0 in a non-conference soccer
match on Friday afternoon.
The Red Wolves (5-3) fell behind 1-0 in the 30th
minute when Danica Roberts scored off of a deflection from A-State goalkeeper
Aja Aguirre. The Red Wolves were outshot 12-5 in the first half, despite
winning the shots on goal category 4-2.
The Golden Eagles added a second goal in the 74th
minute when Chelsea Cruthirds scored to push the lead to 2-0.
Christina Fink, Mallory McGilvray and Kristina Rivera
all led ASU with two shots each, while Fink and McGilvray had two shots on goal
each. Aguierre and Audrey Baldwin each had one save in goal for ASU.
ASU will return to action Sunday, Sept. 16 at
Grambling State. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
