JONESBORO, Ark. (12/7/12) – Arkansas State Athletic Director Terry Mohajir, senior Red Wolves’ football players Nathan Herrold and Ryan Aplin, and ASU Athletics Department personnel met with GoDaddy.com bowl officials in Mobile, Ala., on Thursday in preparation for the Red Wolves’ Jan.  6 game against No. 25 Kent State.

The travel party arrived in Mobile, Ala., Thursday morning and was greeted by GoDaddy.com Bowl representatives who took them to the Renaissance Riverview Plaza, which will serve as the team hotel for Arkansas State.  The Renaissance Riverview Plaza is located at 64 South Water Street in Mobile, Ala.  The hotel has also been designated as the official media hotel for the bowl game.

After touring the team hotel, the ASU travel party had lunch at Wintzell’s Oyster House in downtown Mobile, Ala., before touring Ladd-Peebles Stadium, which has a capacity of 40,646.  ASU officials toured the locker room area, suites, press box, and additional areas.

Mohajir, Herrold, and Aplin also met with the local media at a press conference held at Heron Lakes Country Club.  Kent State Athletic Director Joel Nielsen, senior linebacker Luke Batton, and senior offensive lineman Brian Winters were on hand representing the Golden Flashes at the press conference.

“We’re so excited to be here,” Mohajir said.  “Our fans talked so highly about this bowl last year and I understand why.  The way we’ve been treated here and how excited everyone is, it’s just amazing.”

“On behalf of Jonesboro, Ark., we’re excited to be here,” Herrold said.  “I know the fans are fired up and the team is very excited.”

“Thanks to the GoDaddy.com Bowl for giving us this opportunity again, and we can’t wait,” said Aplin.  “It’s going to be a little less than a month before we get to come back, but we’re excited to bring the team back and give it all we’ve got.”

The media session was followed by a meeting with GoDaddy.com Bowl president Jerry Silverstein and other bowl officials to discuss game details, practice schedules, and a schedule of events for the team and fans.

Both school’s athletic directors and student-athletes spoke at the New Horizons Credit Union 1st and 10 Club to end the day’s events.

Over the past 14 years the New Horizons Credit Union 1st & 10 Club and the GoDaddy.com Bowl have kicked-off the college football season with a series of weekly meetings that feature a very diverse group of speakers from across the country.

ASU will play No. 25 Kent State in the GoDaddy.com Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. in an ESPN-televised game.  Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase GoDaddy.com Bowl tickets only through the ASU Ticket Office to directly support the Red Wolves and to ensure they receive priority seating within the designated A-State area.

Bowl tickets are only $45 per ticket when purchased through the ASU Ticket Office.  Fans can go to AStateRedWolves.com to order tickets, and the ASU Ticket Office, located at the Convocation Center's lower red entrance, is taking walk-up and telephone (870-972-ASU1 or 888-278-3267) orders.
