HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (3/5/12) – The Arkansas State University Alumni Association and ASU Athletics would like to invite all Red Wolves’ alumni and fans to the Sun Belt Conference’s (SBC) All-Alumni Reception during this weekend’s (March 8-11) 2013 SBC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament in Hot Springs, Ark.
The Sun Belt Conference All-Alumni Reception will be held this Saturday (March 9) at Horner Hall which is located in the Hot Springs Convention Center's Summit Arena. The event will be held from 4-6 p.m. (CT). The Hot Springs Convention Center is located at 134 Convention Boulevard.
“One of the events that our fans look forward to each year in the all-alumni celebration,” said ASU Alumni Association Executive Director Beth Smith. “The (Sun Belt) conference brings all of the alumni offices together to organize and sponsor this activity. It enables us to promote not just our individual teams, but in the Sun Belt Conference as well. Through the years, the all-alumni event has enabled ASU fans to meet and interact with supporters of other teams outside the competition arena.
“I believe it has helped build familiarity and support for the other members of the conference in addition to providing a great venue for our alumni and fans to gather,” added Smith.
This year’s celebration will be a cocktail reception with complimentary hors d’oeuvres to be served. The reception will also feature live music and photos from each SBC-member institution will be displayed in a video loop. Banners from each school will be on display along with university information and literature available to those attending. Troy University President Dr. Jack Hawkins, who’s serving as the Sun Belt Conference's President for the 2012-13 athletics season, along with Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Karl Benson will both give a welcome address.
Arkansas State fans are encouraged to wear your Red Wolves spirit wear and support ASU in its quest to become Sun Belt Conference Tournament Champions! The A-State women's team takes on FIU this Saturday (March 9) in an 11:30 a.m. (CT) second-round contest at the Convention Center Arena. The ASU men's squad, which captured its second SBC West Division title in the last three seasons, will go up against the Florida Atlantic-Troy winner this Saturday (March 9) in a 9 p.m. (CT) second-round tilt at Summit Arena.
