Arkansas State University’s track and field program moved into a new home during the summer of 2003.
The new complex is located on Caraway Road at the south entry onto campus. It will contain an eight-lane, 400-meter track with Mondo surface and can be set up for two NCAA venues. There are two long jump and two triple jump pits, two pole vault pits, two shot put and discus areas, a hammer area, two javelin areas and a steeplechase pit.
The $2.3 million facility also features a new complex complete with men’s and women’s locker room, a training room, office space for the head coach and assistant coach’s and restrooms. In addition, there is a press box with 14 stations and there will be spectator seating of 400-500 with areas for additional portable seating. Indoor track and field competitions are held inside the Convocation Center.
