JONESBORO, Ark. (4/13/13) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision against Sun Belt Conference opponent Louisiana-Monroe Saturday at Allen Park, bringing its season record to 5-10.

Tamara Slijepcevic registered A-State's only point with a 6-7, 6-3, 10-5 win over ULM's Sophie Rufyikiri.

In the other singles matches, Janie Nowland fell in straight sets to Medy Blankvoort 6-1, 6-2, while Biljana Miloshevska lost to Silvia Tumova 7-5, 6-2. 

ASU's lone senior, Ioana Teu, lost her final home regular-season match to Justyna Krol by a score of 6-2, 6-4.  Jess Heeps-Eriksen lost in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to Iris Van Leeuwen and Chiara Stefanov was defeated by Petra Horakova by a count of 6-2, 6-0.

The Red Wolves were swept in the doubles portion of the competition.  Teu/Nowland narrowly fell to Horakova/Tumova by an 8-6 score.  Miloshevska/Sofia Krsmanovic were defeated by Blankvoort/Krol by a count of 8-5, while Slijepcevic/Heeps-Eriksen fell to Van Leeuwen/Rufyikiri 8-5.

"We played a great team today," A-State head coach Marina Engelbrecht said. "I thought we played very competitive doubles, and I am proud of Tamara's big win in singles."

The Red Wolves will return to action in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on April 18 in Lafayette, La.
