JONESBORO, Ark. (10/24/13) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team will conclude its fall season when it hosts the A-State Invitational at Allen Park in Jonesboro on Oct. 25-26, with Oct. 27 serving as a potential makeup day for weather.  Start times for each day of the tournament are at 9 a.m.

In addition to the Red Wolves, Murray State, Southeast Missouri, Belmont, Central Arkansas, and Southern Illinois-Carbondale will be competing this weekend.

“We are excited about closing out the fall season with our home tournament,” A-State women’s tennis coach Marina Engelbrecht said.  “We have had a successful fall so far and want to finish the season on a high note.  I would love to see all our tennis fans this weekend at Allen Park.”

Tamara Slijepcevic has claimed two third-place finishes in singles play this fall and also claimed a doubles championship at the Ball State Invite with Janie Nowland.  Nowland/Slijepcevic also advanced to the second round of the ITA Regional Tournament.  Nowland recorded a second-place singles finish at the ULL Invitational.

Biljana Miloshevska won the consolation bracket of her flight at the Ball State Invite earlier in the season and also advanced to the main draw of the ITA Regional Tournament with wins over players from Oklahoma and Southern Illinois.  Freshman Julie Gauguery had a successful fall season by recording a third-place finish at the ULL Invitational and also competed in the qualifying draw at the ITA Regional Tournament.
