KANSAS CITY, Mo. (1/14/13) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team registered the fourth highest pinfall total at 4,849 and had a 4-1 record on the first day of competition at the Central Missouri Mid-America Women’s Bowling Invitational.
A-State began the day with a 1001-855 victory over Elmhurst and followed with 1,039-1,016 win over Stephen F. Austin. In its third match, the Red Wolves downer McKendree 902-884 before suffering its only setback of the day in a 985-933 loss to host Central Missouri. Arkansas State rebounded with a 974-900 win over Vanderbilt.
“A 4-1 record is a good start but we need to strike more if we want to push forward and grab the lead in tomorrow’s round,” A-State bowling coach Justin Kostick said.
Nebraska is in first place with a total pinfall count of 5,229, while Stephen F. Austin is in second place at 5,146. Vanderbilt is in third place at 4,936, followed by A-State (4,849) and tournament host Central Missouri (4,845).
A-State will continue action at the Mid-America Bowling Invitational Saturday morning with play set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
