JONESBORO, Ark. (3/1/14) – The Arkansas State football team’s eight Sun Belt Conference opponents for 2014 were announced Saturday, completing the Red Wolves’ schedule that will include six total home games and a nationally-televised league contest on ESPN2.

The three-time defending Sun Belt Conference champions will play four non-conference games before opening league play Oct. 4 with a home outing against Louisiana-Monroe.  With the Sun Belt expanding to 11 teams in 2014 and each member slated to play eight conference games, Troy and league-newcomer Georgia Southern will be missing from the Red Wolves’ schedule.

New head coach Blake Anderson will make his A-State debut against Montana State in the Red Wolves’ season opener at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro on Aug. 30.  Arkansas State, which has won its last 10 home openers in Jonesboro, will begin its season with a home game for the second consecutive year for the first time since 1987-88.

A week after facing Montana State, the Red Wolves will play Tennessee at Neyland Stadium on Sept. 6.  They will remain on the road for a Sept. 13 contest against Miami, which is the first game of a home-and home series with the Hurricanes.  A-State will conclude its non-conference schedule Sept. 27 with a home contest versus Utah State, which will also be the first game of a home-and-home series with the Aggies.

Arkansas State’s Sun Belt Conference opener against Louisiana-Monroe will also double as its 2014 Homecoming game.  The Red Wolves will then begin a three-game road stretch at Georgia State (Oct. 11), Louisiana-Lafayette (Oct. 21) and Idaho (Nov. 1) over a four-week period.

A-State, which had a school-record 13 televised games last season, will play UL Lafayette in a Tuesday-night midweek game televised by ESPN2.  The Red Wolves will have additional television opportunities that will be announced as they are finalized.

Three of A-State’s remaining four regular-season games will be played at Centennial Bank Stadium, starting with a Nov. 8 outing against South Alabama.  Arkansas State will remain at home a week later to face conference newcomer Appalachian State on Nov. 15 and play their final road game Nov. 22 at Texas State.  The Red Wolves will hold their 2014 Senior Day and close out the regular season with a home game against New Mexico State Nov. 29.
